The Red Wagon

The Red Wagon was first recommended to me by one of my co-workers who live in the area. Don’t judge the place by its looks. There’s a reason why it’s jam packed at 2PM on a Saturday afternoon. Other than the fact that this place was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

The Lineup!

Apparently, the wait wasn’t too bad already. I’ve heard that it could have been longer. As this place attracts local and tourists alike. We called in ahead of time, expecting a mere 20 minutes wait. But, it took us about 30 minutes to get a spot and another 15 minutes before our food arrived.

The Boathouse

There’s many special things with Boathouse. It’s usually located side by side with the waters, you have a gorgeous view on a nice day. The atmosphere is very serene and you get the feeling that you’re in another part of town. Well, at least this is what I feel when I’m down here at The Boathouse in Port Moody.

The View

The view today wasn’t too bad. It’s still “winter”, so it’s still quite gloomy out. You can see that the trees are still bare naked. And today’s not one of those sunny days. My girlfriend and I have been here a few times, but it was our first for brunch! We were here on a Saturday just passed noon, and it was still quiet. Most of the windows seats were taken, but being the smart I am, I always make reservations ahead of time if it’s available. There’s no guarantees, but having a reservations is better than having no reservations. I requested to have a windows seat, and I got one.

Fresh Flowers

One thing about dining here is that you’re likely to spend more than your average lunch, but they do put more effort on ambiance and surroundings. Like this flower, it’s real! And they have one at every table, so it’s probably the reason why you’re paying a buck or two more. Read the rest of this entry »

Ricky’s All Day Grill

So, life without school and work has been sleeping till noon everyday. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I feel kind of bad for sleeping in so late while half of the Vancouver population is already at work and probably drinking their 2nd or 3rd cup of coffee. After a couple days of this “sluggish” life, I decided to get up early for once. (Well, I sort-of had to get up because I had to take my car in for maintenance that morning.) I decided to have breakfast, YES BREAKFAST – the most important meal of the day (according to some experts), with my girlfriend. (Thanks for waking up early to have breakfast with me!)

We decided to hit up our local Ricky’s. They serve breakfast pretty much the entire day, if you ask me Denny’s or Ricky’s. I would say Ricky’s because their decor and just the place itself feels much cleaner than Denny’s.

Ricky's Coquitlam

Sorry for the blurry picture, I rushed out my house that morning and left my camera behind. But, you get my point. The colours they use just makes the restaurant feels “warmer”. Ricky’s Coquitlam is attached to Coquitlam Town Centre Mall, it’s right next to the food court and Starbucks. I sometimes wonder why they would have it right beside the food court, in other words, why put themselves right next to competition?
