- Thursday “Quick Bites” special (All appies 50% off after 8PM)
Every Thursday evening after 8PM, Mr Mikes in Coquitlam is packed with patrons because everything on the “Quick Bites” menu is 50% off. If you’re with a big group, I suggest heading there early to grab seats because they do not take reservations for this weekly event (first-come-first-serve).
They also have beers on special, either a choice of Antler Ale or Big Horn Lager. Both comes in a 22oz. glass for $5.
Here’s somethings we ordered:
Two skewers of scallops wrapped in bacon served with a cocktail sauce. Not bad, I didn’t really liked the cocktail sauce though.
These were deep fried steak cut up in bite sized and served with chipotle ranch dip with garnished green onions. The steak bites were a bit salty, despite we’ve told our server to go easy on the salt.
Baby tiger shrimps covered with cream cheese, parmesan, green onions in baked mushroom caps served with garlic toast.
Most of the quick bites are deep fried, including this one. The chicken tenders were deep fried to perfection, it was still piping hot when I picked it up. Served with plum sauce.
This is a 6oz fire-grilled flat iron steak on their toasted garlic French loaf with thick cut gourmet onion rings and fries. It’s not a bad meal, after all you are getting steak! The flat iron steak was well-flavoured.
Two dozen deep fried round tail panko breaded shrimp served with sweet chili sauce. I like the panko shrimp here, it’s decent sized and seems to be of best value.
The French Onion Soup is a little salty here.
There’s 3 choices of wings to pick from: salt & pepper, hot, and honey garlic.
Overall, it’s not a bad idea for a late night dinner on Thursdays. The service is usually pretty attentive and servers are nice. Food maybe a little salty and mostly deep fried, I would like to see some more varieties to the non-deep fried menu.
