There are many Japanese restaurant in the Tri-Cities area and Akari has been around for quite some time. It’s a pretty big restaurant, but never have I seen it filled with people. And the food isn’t bad here, so I wonder if it’s just the size of the restaurant that makes it seem that it’s always empty.
My girlfriend and I came here for dinner awhile back (several months ag0) and we ordered the Nabeyaki udon to share. The udon came hot and so did the tempura. Lots of ingredients in the soup and very flavourful. It’s perfect for a cool day.
The sushi combo came with 8 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces roll. The sushi was on the whole fresh and nicely presented. I forgot the price but given the amount I don’t believe it was expensive.
For my regular viewers, you can probably tell by now that my favourite roll is the chopped scallop roll. Akari’s chopped scallop roll was good but not the best. Flavours were good, I like how the entire inner piece was all chopped scallop and nothing else. However, I wished they would have used whole scallops instead of all chopped up. (Despite the name being chopped scallop.)
If you are running out of places to eat or you just want to try something new, Akari is not a bad choice.
