Hollywood Cafe on Urbanspoon

Hollywood Cafe

Hollywood Cafe is conveniently located a few blocks from Fisherman’s wharf and even more convenient for us because it was right behind our hotel (Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf). This place has ginormous breakfast, so you better have a pretty big appetite before coming here. Compared to the breakfast places we have here in Canada, it just doesn’t compare. Read on, you’ll see what I mean.

The Special Menu

Like its name, Hollywood Cafe features Hollywood stars on their menu.

The Wall

Even pictures on the wall reflects the theme of this restaurant. All in all, I really like the ambiance of the restaurant. It’s got a semi-open kitchen with really bright wall colours. The warm colours just wake you up in the morning. Though, we didn’t go in the early morning, we arrived at around 11AM. The restaurant was still packed with people, but we managed to get our seats right away.

James Dean

Toast for 2

Mine was from the Special menu. Before I go in and describe the dish, just look at the mountain of fruits! Two eggs any style, toast, fresh fruit with a choice of ham steak, bacon or sausage. I got the sausage with scrambled eggs. The eggs were scrambled nicely, not too dry nor too wet. It was perfect! I thought Cora’s would have served the most fruits out of all the breakfast places I’ve been to (which is not a whole lot). But, this place beats Cora’s by a mile! And best of all, all the fruits were so fresh and sweet without dipping them into the caramelized water.

Scrambled Eggs with Hollywood style hashbrown

My girlfriend had the scrambled eggs and hashbrown. This wasn’t just any hashbrown though, it was Hollywood style. Probably one of the best hash I ever had, the bacon bits were just endless. It was also topped with melted cheese, peppers, green onions and the likes. Absolutely huge! My girlfriend couldn’t finish it all, I helped her with the bacon! =P

The Bill

Overall, Hollywood Cafe has been a pretty good experience. The restaurant is bright and fairly clean. The food portions are huge for breakfast. And the fruits were fresh. Service was mediocre, it didn’t feel like it’s a 5-star restaurant but more like a breakfast place. However, we weren’t ignored either. A little more attention would have been perfect. Price wise, you really get what you paid for.
