This is my first time at Jimmy’s place. Yes, it’s really hidden in the corner like Foodology had mentioned in her blog post. However, their art work do attract nearby customers visiting this strip mall across from White Spot on North Road. They also have a really big menu (most diners do), ranging from burgers to omelets.
This place have a really big menu, much of it are very similar to each other. But their items aren’t cheap, however prices are reasonable. You would pay about the same price as you would at the food court. Some of their breakfast items are significantly cheaper than most breakfast places. (Not IKEA cheap)
Today, I was dining with my girlfriend and her sister. This was her breakfast, which included 2 eggs (any style), 2 sausages, 2 slices of toast and a huge hashbrown!
I had the eggs benny with ham, which was served on an English muffin, poached egg, and a creamy Hollandaise sauce on top. Mine also came with hashbrown! The eggs benny aren’t the best I had, they were good but not perfect. The poached egg was a little overdone and the hollandaise sauce, lacking some flavour. The hashbrown, as with all hashbrowns served here, doesn’t have much taste to it. In fact, I don’t think they put salt in any of it.
My girlfriend had the deluxe mushroom burger with their cream of mushroom soup. The soup was very creamy.
And the mushroom burger was heavenly (of course, for those who likes mushroom)! It’s funny that mushroom is one of those things that you either love or hate. For me, I love it! The burger was very tasty. However, the portions seem small for the price paid. No wonder my girlfriend wasn’t that full after having just the burger.
Overall the food lacked a bit of salt, which seemed to be the most basic ingredients of cooking. With that, the food would have been perfect. For a diner, this place have very reasonable pricing. However, like all diners, the menu is huge! I literally stood and took a thorough look at it for 5 minutes before ordering. The ambiance doesn’t look too shabby for a diner, in fact very clean in and out. The food did take awhile before it was served, I expected a little faster but maybe I was just hungry. The service, well, there wasn’t any. It’s almost like eating at a food court. But your food gets served on your table.
I would come back a second time to try out their extensively large menu.
