My girlfriend and I were just down below the border dress hunting (for her, of course). We decided to stop by a different Olive Garden on our way home (aside from our usual Bellingham location).
This location seemed to be quite good, it’s right off the I-5. We arrived around 7pm, and the wait was around 15 minutes before we had our table. The 3-course dinner was not a bad deal, it was your typical green salad or (various) soups, which usually comes with an entree anyways. The entrees are a list of 5 different new pastas on the menu. And the dessert is a combo of 5 also.
The breadsticks are complimentary as always. I thought the sticks this time around was very salty, I had to use it as a soup dipper.
One of their best tasting soups was still tasting great.
I wanted to try something different, so I got the chicken and ginocchi. Not bad, this is a creamy soup made with roasted chicken, traditional Italian dumplings and spinach.
This dish was very flavourful and creamy. It’s a sauteed chicken breast tenderloin topped with smoked mozzarella cheese in a penne pasta tossed with sweet roasted red peppers in a four cheese sauce. I’d order this again, the flavours were such well blended.
My girlfriend had the creamy parmesan portobello mushroom with fettuccine. But it was lacking flavours in her’s. The entire sauce was a little bland in taste.
With our refilled appetizers and the entrees, we were too full for dessert. So, we had it to go. I had the limoncello and my girlfriend had the chocolate. Mine was filled with a lemon flavoured mousse with crushed crackers.
Overall, the $12.95 3-course dinner is not a bad alternative. It’s the dessert you are paying for really. And you get to test out their new pasta menu.
