Last Saturday my girlfriend and I were back at Milestones to see what’s new and also because she wanted something Western. So, we called ahead of time to make sure there wasn’t a long wait. And there wasn’t, just a mere 20 minutes wait, which would take us around the same time to get there. When we got there the parking lot was completely full, so I had to resort to the street parking. And we were seated almost immediately after entering the restaurant.
There wasn’t much new or exciting items on the menu, except for this one, which was only available for lunch.
We both shared the Caesar salad to start. I find the salad to have not enough dressing, but the flavour was still there. One thing I would change this salad with is the cheese. I would have it grated instead of shredded, I think this would bring more flavour out of the salad.
This is like an all-time favourite for the girlfriend. I really like it as well. We get this every time, if we don’t know what to order. It’s a double breast of chicken with sliced Portobello mushrooms sauteed in olive oil with fresh basil, roasted garlic and reduced Reggiano cream over capellini. It was served with fettucini and seasonal vegetables (carrots and green beans). Last time we came, there was not enough sauce. This time around, it was just perfect.
The first time they served this, it was way too salty and the meatloaf was solid as a rock, probably over cooked. This was a classic meatloaf topped with lightly fried onion strings over garlic mashed potatoes, Shiitake mushroom au jus and seasonal vegetables (carrot and green beans).
I had them remade. I was pretty impressed with the time it took to remake it. The sauce this time was served aside, the mashed potatoes was not salted and the meatloaf was soft and tender and the fried onion strings were light and crispy. It was perfect. However, I didn’t really think the taste of the meatloaf was all that great. It was mediocre.
Some of the carrots that were served were really under cooked, it was like biting into a carrot stick.
Overall, the dining was pretty good. Food came pretty fast. And our server, Anthony, was very friendly. We were very well looked after from beginning to end. One thing I probably would say is consistency. Their food is a little different every time I come, this could be said in portion and flavours. I think if they further improve on the consistency of their food products, they would be that much better off.
After dinner, we got back to our car. And something unfortunate happened…
My poor car got hit! 🙁 This was rather unfortunate and this irresponsible driver actually drove off. For more information on how you can help out, please visit: http://bit.ly/HITRUN for more details. I’d also like to thank the manager and staff at Milestones for lending out a hand for me. Your help is much appreciated.
