This small restaurant is hidden away in Odeon Alley next to the theatre. I drove pass 2 or 3 times before I could find this place. I don’t know long they will stand because of their hidden location. My girlfriend and I found this place on Urbanspoon Victoria, if not, I don’t think we’ll ever have found this place.
Just to get an idea how small the restaurant is, this is how small it is! It’s only got half a dozen small tables. And this place is run by two lovely couples.
This place has more of a fast food restaurant style, where your order & pay first, and then it’ll be brought to your table. Coffee is complimentary and self-served.
This is your classic eggs benny, two eggs poached to perfection and fresh honey maple ham nestled on top of a toasted English muffin then topped off with real, homemade hollandaise sauce. Served with pan fries. I was very disappointed the first time they brought up the benny’s as the bottom of the English muffin was all burnt. I was surprised they even dare to served it. I told them and had it replaced with a new one and money back. I was almost shocked for a little place like this, they would give me a free meal! Now, that’s excellent customer service. However, they didn’t re-do the potatoes, which was a little over-cooked already. But, the eggs benny were delicious.
My girlfriend got the house omelette, which included two eggs, tomatoes, onion, red pepper, mushrooms, and lots of delicious cheddar cheese. Served with pan fries. It’s funny how not everything was inside the egg, after all it’s an omelette. But, it tasted pretty good.
Since the both of us aren’t coffee drinkers, we both decided to get an Apple Juice to share. Well, it didn’t cost a fortune.
The customer service you get at Jackalope’s is top-notch. They only serve brunch from 10-2 on Saturdays and Sundays. And believe it or not, they are sold out before 2pm. I’m guessing they get a lot of early customers. This place also claims to have amazing burgers, but we didn’t have the time to try it out, as we went on a Sunday. If this is all not enough, this place has free WiFi. And this brings us to the end of our Victoria Trip. I’m not sure if we’ll ever go back any time soon. But, if you are a restaurant in Victoria and want to invite me for a visit. Don’t hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
