I visited this traditional Chinese restaurant multiple times for Dim Sum but never tried dinner. One night, my girlfriend and I unexpectedly came to this restaurant without plans. It’s one of those nights where we couldn’t decide what to have for dinner while we were out in Richmond. After learning that Dinesty Chinese Restaurant slightly across from it was packed, we decided to come here.
We arrived around 7pm, typical dinner time and the place wasn’t all that busy. So, we got our tables right away. What I didn’t know about this place was that it’s not low-class at all. I guess one way to distinguish a high-class or a mid-high class Chinese restaurant would be the word “Seafood” written in the name. This is probably because seafood ain’t cheap food. And if you notice different hierarchies of staffing, this is how you know.
No, we didn’t get this for just the two of us. It was something that the other big tables had ordered, but how could I not take a picture when the waiter was cutting up the duck right in front of me!
We found the name to be really interesting, however, it’s just very traditional Chinese way of making the chicken with ginger and green onion dip. I’m not sure how the word “Scallop” came to be, but just to not mislead anyone, there is no scallop in this dish.
On the topic of scallop, our next dish has scallops. I guess we just really wanted “scallops” that night. This is a vegetarian dish, it was served boiling hot on the table, as you can see. The dish was very flavourful with huge scallops, lots of tofu, and the egg plants were very firm. The sauce tasted like it was a mixture of oyster sauce and other sauces.
